Holidays & Sunshine Coast Tourism
The beautiful Sunshine Coast, 1 hour drive north from Brisbane, is packed full of action, excitement and holiday accommodation options. From popular Noosa Heads and trendy Hastings Street to the family friendly holiday destinations of Caloundra and Marcoola, the Sunshine Coast has it all. Sunshine Coast Tourism is dedicated to bringing as much holiday information to the visitor as possible along with the latest deals on Sunshine Coast accommodation.
In early 2008, the Shires of Noosa and Maroochy and the city of Caloundra were combined to form the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. It covers an area of 3126 km2 and contains over 200km of coastline including some of Australia's best and most well known beaches. The Sunshine Coast also incudes a large hinterland area, which includes the Glass House Mountains. Made up of 11 hills, they provide great walking and climbing opportunities and magnificent views, especially from the highest peak - Mt Beerwah - at 556m above sea level.
So with a choice of beachside resorts, coastal hotels and warm hinterland lodges it is easy to see why Sunshine Coast tourism has something for every visitor. Compare Prices right now on the whole accommodation range.
SUNSHINE COAST HIGHLIGHTS
Noosa is without doubt one of the most popular and sought after holiday locations on the Sunshine Coast. Separated slightly from the rest of the coast, Noosa Heads and Noosaville have all the ingredients for the perfect holiday. There is a beautiful sandy beach with calmer waters for family swimming near the headland and good surfing conditions a little further out. The main action is along Hastings Street, packed full of restaurants, cafes, gift shops and fashion outlets. Many tourists and locals have enjoyed a drink at the Noosa Surf Club, which is right on the beach with sensational ocean views. To top it all off, Noosa National Park, the Noosa River and the connected waterways present some of Queenslands best natural scenery - along with excellent fishing and boating opportunities.
The attractions start before you get to the Coast. The Ettamogah Pub and Aussie World are right on the Bruce Highway. Have a laugh at the quirky design and have a steak and drink in the Bar and Grill.
Just 45 minutes north from Brisbane in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Australia Zoo is famous all over the world. The zoo has giant tortoises, tigers, snakes, elephants, wombats, koalas and the Zoo speciality - crocodiles.
In the heart of the Sunshine Coast at Mooloolaba is UnderWater World. Check out shows with seals, stingrays and otters. Be sure not to miss the shark tunnel and walk under the whole aquarium, with fish all around you.
This is only the start of the many things to see and do on the coast. We at Sunshine Coast Tourism want to provide as much information as possible for all holidays on the Coast.
